Astor

ex Fedor Dostoevskiy, scrapped 2022

Before being scrapped in 2020, Astor was operated by now defunct Cruise and Maritime Voyages. Astor was originally built in 1987 by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW; now ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems) for Safemarine to replace the smaller, first Astor built in 1981, that sailed as Saga Pearl II before being scrapped in 2022. There are rumors on how Astor was related to a German South-African deal on the construction of submarines at HDW. To learn more about these stories read these articles at 'Die Zeit' or 'Wesfälische Rundschau'. The German fanpage www.ms-astor.com is focusing on the first Astor, however, you will also find information on the second Astor.
