The article "Development and Operational Experience with the Fast Monohull MS Olympic Explorer" (Jahrbuch der Schiffbautechnischen Gesellschaft) gives a technical description of the sister ship Chinese Taishan (back then Olympic Explorer). See also: ship-technology.com. Photos, also of her interior designed by AMK Architects & Designers, are found at www.shipparade.com. Explorer got some attention by the media when she was struck by a freak wave that smashed two bridge windows which causeds the ship tp be without propulsion and power for some time. By coincidence only one month later her sister ship, Grand Voyager, was also hit by a large wave encountering similar problems. Although an assessment by Det Norske Veritas confirmed that Explorer proved to be a safe ship in the circumstances encountered modifications were made to ensure that such an incident could not happen again.
