MS Lofoten
MS Lofoten

MS Lofoten was built at the erstwhile Akers Mekaniske Verksted at Oslo and is presently serving as training ship for Maritim Videregående skole Sørlandet. Launched in 1963 she resumed operation on the Hurtigruten for VDS in March 1964.
Lofoten and her two near sisters, Kong Olav and Nordnorge (scrapped), were built to the same basic design based on Harald Jarl of 1960. There is a nice video of Harald Jarl (as Serenissima) and Lofoten sailing together @ YouTube.
An excellent starting point for researching MS Lofoten on the internet is the German webpage hurtigwiki.de which also features a discussion forum on MS Lofoten. see also Ted Scull's artice on MS Lofoten @ quirkycruise.com or "Ships in Bergen".
Excellent examples for the plethora of MS Lofoten videos that are available online are the video by Tommi Rotonen @ YouTube as well as the series "50 Jahre MS Lofoten" @ YouTube (Part 1). You might also want to watch this time-lapse of a Raftsundet passage or "Deckhand on MS Lofoten".
