MS Rotterdam
MS Rotterdam is the third ship of the Koningsdam or 'Pinnacle' class of ships built by Fincantieri for Holland America Line.
Originally meant to be named Ryndam, MS Rotterdam became the seventh ship of Holland America Line bearing the name Rotterdam following the retirement of the sixth Rotterdam during the COVID 19 pandemic - watch this video of the sixth Rotterdam's farewell from the city of Rotterdam. This ‚last minute’ attempt to keep the traditional name in the fleet was not appreciated by some ship enthusiasts, given that Ryndam is also a traditional Holland America Line name and that it was considered inappropriate for a ship that is the third in a series of three. However, MS Rotterdam undeniably is the largest ship in the fleet and thus flagship of Holland America Line. Additionally, there were periods in Holland America Line’s history when the flagship did not carry that name.
